These are the two most recent admonitions from my doctor. Last week, I got a "try to eat more and reduce the stress in your life." Apparently, I seemed a tad stressed out (having your living room ripped apart while your cervix slowly opens will do that to you) and the baby seemed a bit sluggish. Okay. No problem. When a doctor tells me to eat more, I do it!! And this week, the doctor (a different one, same practice) notices what I thought was a very admirable weight gain (3 pounds!!) and wasn't as impressed as I was expecting. No high fives, no "well done, you." Instead, she suggested I try to eat just a little bit less. Apparently, you're not supposed to be having your biggest weight gains in your last month. "If you want a cookie, have one. Just not the whole box." Is there a hidden camera in my apartment? If she only knew that's the way I eat all the time, pregnant or not. The good news is, when I nurse, I have to eat even more, so why break stride now. I mean, really?
