Eat More! Eat Less!

These are the two most recent admonitions from my doctor. Last week, I got a "try to eat more and reduce the stress in your life." Apparently, I seemed a tad stressed out (having your living room ripped apart while your cervix slowly opens will do that to you) and the baby seemed a bit sluggish. Okay. No problem. When a doctor tells me to eat more, I do it!! And this week, the doctor (a different one, same practice) notices what I thought was a very admirable weight gain (3 pounds!!) and wasn't as impressed as I was expecting. No high fives, no "well done, you." Instead, she suggested I try to eat just a little bit less. Apparently, you're not supposed to be having your biggest weight gains in your last month. "If you want a cookie, have one. Just not the whole box." Is there a hidden camera in my apartment? If she only knew that's the way I eat all the time, pregnant or not. The good news is, when I nurse, I have to eat even more, so why break stride now. I mean, really?

boy #2

So this is boy #2, Brice. And yes, he's as naughty as he looks. He started off this morning by dumping a huge mug of hot coffee on his head. Yes, I stepped away. I went into the laundry area to grab his diapers and heard a blood curdling scream. We stripped him down and dunked him in a cold bath, which, surprisingly, seemed to offend him more than the hot coffee. After a proper bath and a little extra love, he seems no worse for the wear. Lesson learned (on my end, probably not so much on his).

Here goes...

I suppose I should get going on this. I don't even remember when I set this up. At the time, I had two main boys in my life--Seth and Brice. Now we're getting ready to welcome boy #3 (as in, second son) in just under four weeks. The problem is, i'm not great at winging it. I wasn't sure what I wanted this blog to be--something for family to be able check in on and see pics of the grandsons (yes); a way to mark my days that seem to be flying by too fast (yes); something a bit confessional and likely emotional (not sure). I would compose blog entries in my head and then think "good lord, it's a good thing I didn't write that! WAY too personal." So I figure I won't try and censor myself too much--pictures and ponderings and reflections, some books, some thoughts, some stories, perhaps some emoting or ranting or whatnot. Anyhow, here goes...
